Worldcoin (WLD) Just Absorbed a $28M Unlock and Tagged Its First $0.50 in Two Months — the $0.45 Flip Decides the AI Rally
WLD just absorbed a 69M-token unlock and tagged its first $0.50 session in two months as the AI rotation arrived — the $0.45 flip now decides the next leg.

Worldcoin just did what token unlocks are supposed to make impossible. On September 7 — the day a scheduled 69M WLD unlock worth roughly $28 million hit the market — the token ripped higher and tagged its first $0.50 session in more than two months. Two days later it is holding above the breakout zone, and the AI-crypto rotation that lifted the whole artificial-intelligence basket is finally paying attention to Sam Altman's identity network.
The move is visible in the raw data. WLD climbed from $0.4204 to an intraday high of $0.4810 on September 7 and closed at $0.4778 on 149.4M in volume — roughly 2.4 times its 20-day average. It followed up on September 8 with a wick to $0.5058, the first print above $0.50 since June 24, before closing the retest at $0.4529. At press time WLD trades near $0.457 on Binance with a market cap around $1.68B, good for rank #53 on CoinGecko.

Why the AI Rotation Finally Reached Worldcoin
The trigger was broader than any single coin. Reports that Anthropic is preparing an IPO with Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, plus OpenAI's preview of its GPT-6 Astra model, sent a wave of money into AI-linked tokens — Bittensor, Near Protocol, Injective and Internet Computer all logged double-digit gains in the same window. Worldcoin recorded the strongest 24-hour gain in the entire top 100 on the day the rotation peaked.
The positioning data suggests conviction rather than noise. Spot taker cumulative volume delta flipped green in the last two days of August, long/short ratios on Binance and OKX moved above 1.70, and top-trader long/short hit 1.93 on accounts and 2.11 on positions. The short squeeze did the rest: more than $1.2 million in leveraged shorts were liquidated within 12 hours against just $490K of longs, per the breakdown of the move.

The $28M Unlock That Became a Bullish Stress Test
September 7 was circled on the calendar for a different reason. Tokenomist had 69M WLD — about $28 million at the time — scheduled to unlock that day, part of an 87M-token September calendar that had sellers braced for overhang. Instead of a supply dump, the market got a breakout: WLD rose as much as 21.4% intraday and led the top-100, per the market update, closing the week up 34.7% before cooling to a still-strong +25% seven-day gain.
Unlocks only matter when buyers are absent. The absorption of the largest cliff on the calendar — with the remainder of September's schedule, roughly 18M WLD, still to come — is being read by traders as a stress test passed. It is the same logic that flipped the market's read on the supply story from bearish overhang to neutral noise.
The Chart: Two-Month Base, Inverted Head-and-Shoulders, Textbook Retest
The technical backdrop explains why buyers showed up. After the mid-June AI peak at $0.7229, WLD bled for seven weeks to an August 7 low of $0.2932 — a 59% drawdown that erased the entire spring recovery. The reversal began on August 19 with a 13.6% recovery session on 98M in volume, followed by an August 22 spike to $0.4636 that defined the top of a two-month coil between $0.3529 and $0.4278. The daily chart shows the base clearly.
Analysts had flagged the setup as an inverted head-and-shoulders with its neckline in the $0.41-0.45 zone — the same zone that capped the August coil. September 6 closed at $0.4204, September 7 broke the zone with the volume spike, and September 8's wick to $0.5058 landed almost exactly on the 50% retracement ($0.5081) of the $0.7229-to-$0.2932 decline before the pullback held $0.4516. That is the definition of a breakout retest: old supply flipping to support, with bullish pattern targets cited at $0.55 and a true close above $0.67.
The Levels That Decide the Next Leg: $0.45 Flip, $0.56 Measured Move, $0.63 June Shelf
The line in the sand is $0.45. Holding the September 8 low of $0.4516 and the psychological level keeps the breakout valid — the 0.382 retracement of the June-to-August decline sits at $0.4573, right where price is trading today. From there the ladder is $0.4810 (the September 7 high), a retest of the $0.5058-0.5081 zone (the 50% retracement), then the 0.618 retracement at $0.5588 — which lines up with the inverted head-and-shoulders measured move near $0.56 — and finally the June shelf at $0.60-0.63, where the 0.786 retracement at $0.6309 converges.
The invalidation is equally clear. A daily close below $0.45 opens $0.4242-0.4278 (the August highs, now the first support shelf) and then $0.4079 (the September 7 low) — below that, the breakout has failed and WLD rolls back into its coil near $0.36-0.38. The honest caveats: RSI sits at 67 with a bearish-divergence warning, and the structure is not fully confirmed while price ranges around $0.45, so a chop-and-retest session is as likely as a straight continuation.
The bigger picture is what makes WLD worth watching into Q4. At a $1.68B market cap versus a $4.57B fully diluted valuation, Worldcoin still trades roughly 96% below its March 2024 all-time high of $11.74 — the market has priced in very little of the World ID and World Chain rollout that its unlock-heavy supply schedule is gradually funding. If the AI rotation persists and the $0.45 flip holds, this is a token with room to run toward the June shelf on nothing more than a repricing of the AI-crypto theme.
