Sanctum Burns 259 Million SANC This Month: After a 166% Month and a $0.1129 Blow-Off, the $0.0675 Retrace Decides

Sanctum burns 259M SANC this month after a MetaDAO vote passed. The token ran 166% in 30 days; the $0.0675 retrace and $0.0756 ceiling decide the next leg.

Back of a physical .05 BTC Serp coin on a red backdrop — Sanctum is set to burn 259 million SANC, a quarter of its supply, in October

Sanctum's governance vote passed on September 19, and the paperwork is now a calendar item: 259,320,217 SANC — the protocol's entire Community Reserve — is scheduled to be destroyed this month, cutting the maximum supply from 1 billion tokens to roughly 741 million. That is a 25% cut, and it makes Sanctum the only project on Solana's October supply calendar that subtracts tokens instead of releasing them.

The market did not wait for the burn. SANC traded at $0.0715 at 05:30 UTC on October 2, down 1.6% on the session but up 42.5% over seven days, 89.4% over fourteen and 166% over thirty, per CoinGecko. On Gate's CLOUD/USDT book — the ticker migration to SANC is still rolling out across venues — the pair printed a high of $0.073835 and a low of $0.070975 in the last 24 hours on just $73,416 of volume.

What the Burn Actually Changes

This is the part most coverage gets wrong. The 259.3 million tokens coming out of existence were never circulating. Sanctum's own dashboard puts circulating supply at 519,526,641 SANC, and that number does not move by a single token. What the burn changes is what can ever reach the market later: the free float rises from roughly 50% of the maximum supply to about 67%, and the fully diluted valuation implied by that ceiling falls from $71.7 million to roughly $53.1 million at today's price.

The reserve existed to bootstrap the protocol. Of the ~307 million tokens originally set aside, Sanctum distributed about 48 million: 45 million through the Active Staking Rewards program, which ended in August with a final 15 million distribution, and roughly 3 million as INF-SOL Kamino vault incentives. The remaining 259 million had no program attached to them. The CLOUD-008 proposal argues that leaving them under governance control was itself the problem, because every holder had to price in the possibility of a future distribution. The trade-off is real: the Strategic Reserve used for team grants is untouched, so the burn cuts the community side of the ledger only.

The Vote Was Decided by Markets, Not by Hands

CLOUD-008 went to MetaDAO's futarchy mechanism rather than a token-weighted poll. Two conditional markets trade in parallel — one for the world where the burn passes, one for the world where it fails — and the proposal executes if the pass market ends higher. Voting opened at 08:12 UTC on September 16 and closed three days later. Holders put capital behind their view, and the burn won.

SANC means anyone who hears about Sanctum can find the token in one search, and when Sanctum the business does well, our token should too. — FP Lee, Sanctum co-founder and CEO, announcing the CLOUD-008 proposal

The ticker rename that ships with the burn is cosmetic in the technical sense: name, symbol and logo change from CLOUD to SANC, while the mint address and every tokenomic parameter stay exactly as they are. The reason is searchability. Typing “CLOUD token” into a market data site returned cloud computing companies, not Sanctum. Holders do not have to migrate or swap anything.

The $0.1129 Blow-Off and the $0.0675 Line That Has Held for Four Sessions

The repricing started long before the vote. SANC broke out of a $0.0259-0.0369 base on September 2 with a 23.1% candle on 1.86 million tokens, then coiled between $0.0406 and $0.0468 for two weeks. The vote result turned that coil into a spike: September 26 closed +25.4%, September 27 tagged $0.10127 and closed at $0.09127, and September 28 opened at $0.09212, printed a $0.11291 high and closed the session at $0.06635.

That is a 41.2% round trip inside one candle, on 2.4 million SANC — 4.3x the average daily volume of the first week of September. What matters is what happened next. Four sessions have passed since the rejection (September 29 through October 2), and each one has held a low of $0.066146, $0.071009, $0.071264 and $0.070975, with a ceiling between $0.0725 and $0.0756.

The 0.618 retrace of the September 20 low at $0.03946 to the September 28 high at $0.11291 sits at $0.06752, and the rejection close landed at $0.06635 — right on it. Every close since has been above that line. Above the coil, the 50% retrace at $0.07619 is the first real test, followed by $0.08485 and then the $0.10127-$0.11291 rejection zone. Below it, the shelf is $0.06504-$0.06474 from the September 27-28 lows, then $0.05518, then the September 20 base at $0.03946.

A Profitable Protocol Priced at $37 Million

Sanctum became the largest protocol on Solana by total value locked in August 2026, overtaking Jupiter. DefiLlama now counts $2.28 billion of Solana deposits in it, and the protocol's own Q2 2026 report recorded 16.64 million SOL of LST and Infinity TVL at the end of June, up 8.2% quarter on quarter, with about 2.6% of all staked SOL under management and, by its own framing, roughly 97% of the market still open.

The business was profitable through 2025 and still is, though revenue is shrinking with the market: protocol revenue came in at $880,107 in Q2, down 39.7% from Q1, with SOL-denominated revenue at 11,287 SOL, down 1.06%. The treasury held $5.84 million, split between $3.69 million of stablecoins and $2.16 million of SOL and LSTs. At the end of that quarter the token's market capitalisation was $7.60 million.

Today it is $37.25 million, a 4.9x re-rating inside a quarter, with 166% of that move coming in the last 30 days alone. Ranked #619, SANC is still 88.5% below its November 2024 all-time high of $0.6252 — and 5.6x above the June 7, 2026 low of $0.01277 it bottomed at.

What Decides the Next Leg

Three things matter from here. First, execution: SolanaFloor's October schedule dates the burn to October 9, while CryptoBriefing's unlock calendar puts it on October 6. The token is already priced for the burn, so a delay is a risk and the burn itself is the catalyst. Second, the offset: October also carries 10.80 million SANC of linear vesting, worth about $778,000 at today's price.

Third, liquidity. Sanctum trades $73,416 a day on Gate's CLOUD/USDT pair and roughly $290,000 across the venues CoinGecko tracks, against a $37 million market cap and a $71.7 million fully diluted valuation. That is thin enough that both directions of the 41% September 28 candle can repeat. October is the heaviest supply month of the quarter for the Solana ecosystem — DoubleZero's cliff, deBridge's 618.33 million DBR unlock on October 17, and the Official Trump and Pump.fun linear unlocks all land inside it. Sanctum is the one asset on that list moving the other way, which is precisely why it has been the best performer on the list.

The levels are simple. A daily close above $0.0756 opens the 50% retrace at $0.07619 and then $0.08485, with the $0.10127-$0.11291 rejection zone behind it. A close below $0.06752 hands the $0.06504-$0.06474 shelf and the 78.6% retrace at $0.05518 back to sellers, and invalidates the post-vote structure. Everything in between is a market waiting for a supply number to become a fact. More on the protocol itself is at sanctum.so.
