The New York Clearing House Association building on Cedar Street — Quant was picked by The Clearing House to power tokenized-deposit settlement for 25 US banks

Quant (QNT) was a 2026 laggard for most of the year — and then a single Thursday rewrote the chart. On September 24, The Clearing House named the UK infrastructure firm as the technology partner for its On-Chain Money Initiative, the bank-led network where 25 of the largest US institutions will clear and settle tokenized deposits. QNT closed the session 27.6% higher and has since printed $104.68, the highest level the token has traded at since November 30, 2025.

The Clearing House Just Put Quant Inside the $2 Trillion Payment Rails

The Clearing House is not a crypto venue — it is the payments operator underneath the US banking system, clearing and settling more than $2 trillion every day across wire, ACH, check image and real-time payments. The selection of Quant announced on September 24 assigns one job to one vendor: supply the interoperability, orchestration and transaction-management layer that coordinates how tokenized deposits move between banks.

Quant's Overledger connects the new network to the rails banks already use every day — the RTP and CHIPS networks. That detail is the whole story. A tokenized deposit sitting inside one bank's walled platform is not money in motion; the moment it can settle across 25 different ledgers, tokenized commercial bank money becomes an actual clearing asset.

The initiative dates to June 5, 2026, when The Clearing House first unveiled it with 25 member institutions behind it, including Bank of America, BMO, BNY, Citi, Citizens, Fifth Third, HSBC, Huntington, J.P. Morgan, KeyBank, PNC, Regions, Santander, TD Bank, Truist, U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo. The network is expected to be available to participating institutions in the first half of 2027.

The Same Week, Quant's UK Platform Ran the First Live Tokenized Deposit Payments

The US deal did not land in a vacuum. On the same day, UK Finance confirmed that the Great British Tokenised Deposit project had completed its first live customer transactions — tokenized sterling deposits moving between separate banks, two of them mortgage-related, plus a simulated person-to-person marketplace payment. Seven banks took part: Barclays, HSBC UK, Lloyds Banking Group, Monzo, Nationwide, NatWest and Santander. Quant built the platform, with EY and Linklaters in support.

Read the two announcements together and the pitch is simple: the same interoperability layer that just passed a live UK retail test now has a contract for the interbank plumbing of the US banking system. That is the difference between a tokenization pilot and infrastructure, and the market priced it in one session.

What QNT Did on the Chart: 27% in One Session and a 2026 High

The move was already building before the headline. QNT put in its 2026 low at $55.28 on August 17, retested at $58.75 on September 16, then broke out on September 22 — a $66.81 open to a $73.85 close, +10.4%, on 45,386 QNT, roughly 2.3x September's daily average. September 23 pulled back to $70.62, and then the announcement candle did the rest: a $70.69 open, a $69.40 low, a $91.40 high and a $90.10 close for +27.6% on the day.

Friday's session has been the loudest of all. QNT opened at $90.12, tagged a high of $104.68, and is trading around $94.73 with 121,110 QNT traded — already the heaviest session since November 30, 2025, and about six times September's daily average. Cross-venue quotes agree within a few cents: Binance $94.73 (+17.9% in 24 hours), Gate $94.69, Bitget $94.73.

Context for that $104.68 print: the 2026 high before this week was $85.00 on May 16, and the last time QNT traded above $100 at all was December 1–2, 2025. The token is now above its 20-day ($68.00), 50-day ($63.86) and 200-day ($68.35) moving averages, with RSI at 78.5 on closed daily candles — about 81 including the live session — and a 14-day ATR of $5.96, or 6.3% of spot. Overbought, in other words, but overbought inside a fresh high rather than into resistance.

Derivatives followed the spot move rather than leading it: CoinGlass data cited by The Cryptonomist shows QNT futures volume up 20.9% to $39.11M and open interest up 11.95% to $18.93M. Per Coinpaprika, QNT carries a $1.13 billion market cap at rank 80, is up 47% on the week, and its 24-hour dollar volume expanded more than 400%. Supply is capped — 14,881,364 QNT total and maximum — and the token remains roughly 78% below its September 2021 all-time high of $426.18.

The $93.02 Retrace Is the Level Everything Now Sits On

Measure the whole recovery leg from the $55.28 August low to the $104.68 print — $49.40 of range — and the retracements land exactly where price is now sitting. The 0.236 sits at $93.02, directly under the live price. Below it: $85.81 (0.382, and it lines up almost perfectly with the old 2026 ceiling at $85.00), $79.98 (0.5) and $74.15 (0.618). Above: the 1.272 extension at $118.12 and the 1.618 at $135.21.

The bull path needs one thing first: a daily close that holds $93.02 and a reclaim of $104.68. From there the measured extensions at $118.12 and $135.21 are the mechanical targets, and analyst Crypto With Gopal is already mapping a triangle breakout toward $130. The bear path starts with a daily close under $93.02 — first stop $85.81, where the 0.382 retracement and the broken 2026 ceiling overlap and where a retest should decide whether this is a trend or a headline spike. Lose that and the ladder runs to $79.98, then the $76.53/$75.21 breakout base, then $74.15.

Invalidation is clean in both directions. A daily close below $85.81 flips the structure back to the August range and makes the last two sessions an exhaustion candle. A close above $104.68 confirms the breakout leg and puts $118.12 in play.

What Would Break the Trade

Two things argue for patience. The first is time: the On-Chain Money Initiative will not reach participating institutions until the first half of 2027, and Forkast's read on the announcement flags the operational questions still open — cross-ledger finality, sanctions screening and dispute handling are unresolved, and the token's revenue path from the contract itself is not yet defined. Quant's own site is the proof of concept: the UK programme it just completed is the reference implementation being scaled to the US.

The second is the tape. A 27% single session into a $104.68 high that sellers immediately answered with an $88.25 low leaves an upper wick, and buying an overbought token two days into a vertical move means paying up for the privilege. The honest read is that the story is now institutionally legible in a way it was not on September 23 — and that the $93.02 retrace, not the headline, is what the next week trades against.

What to watch: whether QNT closes the week above $93–94; whether the $85.00 May ceiling flips into support on any retest; whether open interest keeps expanding with price; and the first concrete milestones on the H1 2027 rollout. That is the sequence that decides whether $104.68 was a spike or a floor.
