Seven of 77 Top-100 Tokens Are Green This Week — Bitcoin's 1.4% Loss and the 79,800 Floor Are the Whole Bull Case

Seven of 77 real top-100 tokens are green on the week while Bitcoin lost just 1.38% and the stablecoin float shrank $1.72 billion. The 79,800 floor decides.

Physical 25 BTC Casascius gold rounds on red velvet — seven of 77 top-100 tokens green while bitcoin lost 1.38%

Bitcoin is down 1.38% over the last seven days. Seven of the 77 real assets in the top 100 are up over the same stretch and the median one is down 8.23%, according to a Coinpaprika snapshot taken at 05:00 UTC on 19 October. BTC trades at $82,740, up 1.37% in 24 hours, and Tron at −0.27% is the only top-10 asset that lost less.

Those two columns describe the same tape. The 24-hour one is green for 61 of the 77, a normal Monday bounce off a weekend low. The seven-day column is where the money went.

Breadth, not price, is the story of October

Count the top 100 by market cap and 81 of them are green over 24 hours. Over seven days only 16 are green, and stripping the pegged assets plus the wrapped and staked derivatives — WBTC, stETH, wETH, the rest — leaves seven winners out of 77 real assets. That is a 9% breadth reading on a market whose largest coin fell 1.4%.

Bitcoin's −1.38% beat 65 of those 77. The seven that are green at all are Bitway at +34.37%, Monero at +11.69%, Injective at +5.64%, the LEO exchange token at +1.49%, Fantom at +0.77%, JUST at +0.14% and a yield-bearing stable at +0.13%. Strip the last three, and an $80 billion-plus asset class produced four real winners in a week.

The other side of the ledger carries the size. Pump.fun −24.22%, Ethena −20.51%, Canton Network −18.80%, Jupiter −18.57%, Ondo −17.19%, Filecoin −16.24%. Among the majors: Zcash −12.24% after its run, Dogecoin −9.03%, Hyperliquid −8.65%, XRP −7.06%, Solana −6.22%, Ether −5.20% and BNB −3.24%.

A rotation would not have shrunk the float

The rotation thesis says capital is moving out of alts and into BTC. The dollar float that funds all of it says something else. Stablecoin supply stood at $305.00 billion on 19 October, down 0.56% over seven days — $1.72 billion gone — against a 0.36% gain over 30 days, per DefiLlama's stablecoin tracker. The float grew through September and turned down in the second week of October.

The wrapper did the same thing at a larger size. US spot Bitcoin ETFs lost $228.4 million in the 12-16 October week and Ether funds lost $320.1 million, with BlackRock's ETHA accounting for roughly $299 million of the ETH total, according to Farside's weekly fund-flow records. Across the five crypto ETF categories tracked — BTC, ETH, SOL, ZEC and HYPE — the week was −$610.7 million. Bitcoin funds still held $104.3 billion in net assets on 16 October, so this is a trim, not an exit.

Money that leaves one wrapper and lands in another coin is a rotation. Money that leaves the wrapper while the stablecoin float shrinks is a de-risking. Bitcoin's 57.56% dominance and a $2.89 trillion total market cap — against the $4.82 trillion peak of 5 October 2025 — look like a rotation only because BTC loses slowest.

The winners look like a hedge, not a bid

Monero at +11.69% while Zcash falls 12.24% is one privacy trade paying for itself out of another. ZEC is still the bigger asset at $19.1 billion against XMR's $11.2 billion, and the pair has been the only corner of the top 20 with a two-way market this month. Injective, LEO and Fantom are small, idiosyncratic bids. Bitway's +34% sits on a $5.0 billion cap and is a single-name move.

None of that is new money entering the asset class. It is money already in crypto choosing a different corner of it, which is what the breadth table already showed.

What changes the read: three tells

First, a daily close above $84,352, the high of the 12 October session that started the slide. Bitcoin has printed higher lows since the 15 October $79,800 wick — $80,684 on the 18th — under that cap, a coil of roughly 4,550 points inside an October range of $87,220 to $79,800. A close above the cap turns the sequence into a higher-high structure. A close under $79,800 reopens the $77,730 measured-move target left unfilled by the 2 October $87,220 rejection.

Second, the stablecoin float back above $306.7 billion, the level it held on 12 October. That is the cleanest evidence that new dollars, rather than recycled ones, are arriving.

Third, breadth. Seven out of 77 is 9%. Nineteen out of 77 — 25% — is the reading where an alt bleed stops being a de-risking and starts being an opportunity again.

A market whose best large-cap weekly return is a 1.4% decline is not a bull market with weak alts. It is a market with one asset being held and a lot of others being sold.

Until the float grows again, that is the trade.
