A hardware wallet held in front of a laptop — Aptos unlocks 11.31 million APT on 11 October 2026, the last insider cliff in its vesting schedule

Aptos will release 11.31 million APT at 23:14 UTC on Sunday, 11 October — the last vesting cliff the network's Core Contributors and its private-sale investors will ever have. The batch is worth about $8.0 million at Binance's $0.7067 last price, and it lands on a token that has spent three sessions selling off into it.

The breakdown, from DefiLlama's unlock schedule for Aptos: 3,958,333 APT to Core Contributors, 2,807,972 to investors, 3,210,145 to the community allocation and 1,333,333 to the foundation — 11,309,783 coins in total. That is 0.54% of the 2.1 billion APT hard cap, about 1.3% of the roughly 871 million coins CoinGecko counts as circulating, and 0.64% of the 1.77 billion APT that DefiLlama models as released or scheduled.

Size it against the tape rather than the cap. Binance has traded 18.36 million APT in the past 24 hours; Sunday's unlock is 61.6% of a single day's spot volume on the largest venue. Not a wall of supply — but not a rounding error either.

The insider cliff schedule ends here

Aptos' vesting calendar carries 360 scheduled events and runs to 2032. The Core Contributors line and the private-sale line have 36 events each, and 11 October is the last of both. From 11 November the calendar holds only community and foundation cliffs — 4,543,478 APT on 11 November, then the same on 11 December and 11 January — a 60% cut in the monthly cliff from what lands this weekend. The network's other supply tap, staking emissions, ran its final event on 11 September 2026.

On DefiLlama's allocation tracker, Core Contributors are 95.8% released and the private sale is 95.8% released, while the community allocation — the line that keeps unlocking past Sunday — sits at 50.9%. Add the scheduled cliffs together and roughly 666 million APT will have been released once Sunday's batch lands: 31.7% of the hard cap, staking rewards aside. What is left of the insider and private-sale allocation is a rounding error from done, so from 11 October the supply story on Aptos is community emissions and whatever the foundation chooses to spend.

APT sold the unlock before it happened

Aptos closed at 0.8451 on 5 October, having printed a lower high at 0.8595 under the 0.8886 and 0.8897 peaks of 25 and 26 September. Then it gave the whole October range back: 0.7637 on 7 October — the first close under its 20-day average since 16 September, 4.4% below it — and today's low of 0.6909, 18.2% under the 5 October close.

The level that matters is 0.6988, the half retracement of the entire 0.509 to 0.8886 advance that began on 30 August. Today's low undercut it by 0.79 cents and the price is back above it. The 20-day average at 0.7975 and the 0.236 retracement at 0.799 sit two cents apart above the market, which is why any bounce has to argue with both. Momentum has cooled rather than broken: RSI(14) is 44.7, ATR(14) has widened to 0.06758 — 9.6% of spot — and the 50-day average at 0.6763 is the next structural shelf underneath.

Context for the selling: bitcoin is at $80,942, 2.9% lower on the day, and ether is at $2,423, 5.3% lower. APT's 5.4% decline is a worse version of a bad market rather than an isolated event.

The other thing happening on Aptos: MonoMove

On 7 October Aptos Labs unveiled MonoMove, a redesign of the Move virtual machine it positions as the biggest scalability change in the network's history (Crypto Briefing). The numbers come from replaying real mainnet transactions from Decibel, the fully onchain exchange incubated by Aptos Labs (decibel.xyz): collateral withdrawals up to 55x faster, vault requests 40x, perpetual-market requests 38x, order placements 22x, order-book matching around 7x and liquidity-pool swaps 5x to 7x.

The end-to-end figure is smaller and more useful: sequential throughput up to 11x, before Block-STM and other optimisations, with Aptos Labs noting that the bottleneck has moved to storage. No independent benchmark has been published. MonoMove is already wired into the block executor, keeps Move's asset rules and adds redundant checks against VM bugs; feature completeness is targeted for the end of 2026, with mainnet in 2027 subject to a governance vote (roadmap detail).

In 2026, Move will become even faster with MonoMove, a complete redesign of Move VM — bringing parallelism, single-thread performance, and security to a whole new level. — Aptos Labs

The chain the unlock lands on

For all the token mechanics, Aptos' onchain base is still small: $53.78 million of TVL across the chain and $1.011 billion of stablecoins issued on it. Sunday's unlock is 0.8% of that stablecoin float. CoinGecko has APT at a $609 million market cap on a $846 million fully diluted valuation and rank 101, 96.5% below the $19.92 all-time high of January 2023 and 38.3% above the 0.5112 all-time low printed on 30 August.

What to watch

0.6909 is the line now: today's low, the level that stopped the slide and the level that sits 0.79 cents under the half retracement. Above it, 0.7380 — the low that broke on 7 October — and 0.7637, the last close, are the two marks a bounce has to reclaim before the 20-day average at 0.7975 comes back into play. Below it, 0.654 is the 0.618 retracement, 0.5902 the 0.786, and the all-time low at 0.5112 is 26.0% further down.

The unlock lands at 23:14 UTC on Sunday, when spot books are at their thinnest. Monday's session, not Sunday's headline, is the one that will say whether the last insider cliff was already priced in — or whether 0.6988 was only the first stop.
